I read the book quickly during a flight and enjoyed it I was attracted to the promise of no dogma I had always wanted to knowabout Kriya yoga, since I started studying the Self Realization Fellowship material 20 years ago and got stopped when they required me to devote myself to Yogananda I, like to author, don t buy the following a teacher blindly thing I would have liked to know if the author was enlightened If he said it, I missed it Just wondering if the methods he describes ha I read the book quickly during a flight and enjoyed it I was attracted to the promise of no dogma I had always wanted to knowabout Kriya yoga, since I started studying the Self Realization Fellowship material 20 years ago and got stopped when they required me to devote myself to Yogananda I, like to author, don t buy the following a teacher blindly thing I would have liked to know if the author was enlightened If he said it, I missed it Just wondering if the methods he describes have led to the final path He did give the practice he was using and some of the length of time before he had realization with it He also mentions practices that he tried that didn t give as good results This was valuable to me I have not tried the practices yet And I am not sure if I will except the final kriya His description of the final kriya, to abide in being, is actually a complete path with out the pranayama stuff However, I can see how the pranayama would lead tomental stillness conducive to abiding in being And I struggle with mental stillness He says if you have that stillness then just go to the final kriya It was interesting that the author opted to review different teachers My husband questioned, Doesn t the teacher come from the student, so how can he review them since it would be from his subjective point of view In any case his observations would be useful to assessing teachers I liked also that he doesn t hold a fixed point of view He is sharing his experience, but suggests that a certain teacher might be perfect for a certain person and encourages the reader to question what they need to progress and stay motivated as well as stay focus on what is most important not technique as much as what the goal or objective is I practice buddhist and taoist meditation methods and have fallen into the trap of thinking my practice needs to look a certain way to be effective instead of staying open to what will create the most for me Placing the mind in consciousness is the Real Kutashta This book helps to understandthe supreme significance of the after effect poised kriya when it comes to liberation I read it twice now For everyone seeking liberation involving the path of gyan and raja this book is a must read highly recommended Easy to understand. You don t have to be a Yogi to appreciate how this book traces the history of Kriya Yoga in its powerful attempt to deconstruct the dogma of spiritual institutions You don t have to believe in a god worth chasing to extract the humor of this text.I was interested in this text mainly as an alternate perspective to the secretive and dogmatic approach to Kriya Yoga in the classic Autobiography of a Yogi, which was given to me by my aunt a long time ago and I have now just begun to make progress on You don t have to be a Yogi to appreciate how this book traces the history of Kriya Yoga in its another play on the I Ego This was very well explained. This Kriya yoga stuff really has lots of different teachings around it It s kind of turning into its own religion.But I may say that SantataGamana did a good job He cleared the confusions that made me wanted to hate kriya He really did a great job Simple and lucid writing Have been follower and doing some practicing for a while I ll try out techniques in this book and see for myself.
