|Read E-pub Ú Taken by Storm ⚛ Syleena Webster has been hurt by her mother s free lifestyle with men, but she maintains her romantic ideas about love and marriage She doesn t doubt her perfect man is out there Storm Hyde, however, gave up on love and a long time ago The wealthy banker decided staying single is the way for him, so he hasn t dated the same woman longer than a few months in ages He s totally unprepared for his reaction when his sister brings her gorgeous roommate, Syleena Webster, home for the summer Once he gazes into her soulful brown eyes, an emotion he s never felt before hits him, and he sends Syleena running for the door Five years later, they meet again Will Storm be able to make Syleena understand the depth of the mistake he made It was really interesting not the usually one problem scenario problem but series of obstacles which alotdramatic thrilling and excitingly fun to read This reads like an interracial romance for Diana Palmer fans which I am This book is a keeper for me because of the sheer pathos and angst within its pages This book is a merry go round emotionally Years of two people fighting their feelings for each other Again, I say if you like the Diana Palmer type I Don t Want to Fall in Love hero, Storm Hyde is your kind of hero He does have motivation, having been raised by a seriously mysoginistic father who filled his head with junk about all w This reads like an interracial romance for Diana Palmer fans which I am This book is a keeper for me because of the sheer pathos and angst within its pages This book is a merry go round emotionally Years of two people fighting their feelings for each other Again, I say if you like the Diana Palmer type I Don t Want to Fall in Love hero, Storm Hyde is your kind of hero He does have motivation, having been raised by a seriously mysoginistic father who filled his head with junk about all women being whores and out for money This dialogue keeps playing in Storm s head when he meets the woman he falls in love with, Syleena Webster, who is the roommate of his considerably younger sister Storm is an affluent businessman cowboy whose average relationship lasts about six months He s definitely not the ideal man for inexperienced Syleena to fall in love with, but she falls hard and never recovers, even though Storm doesn t treat her well from the beginning again, think Diana Palmer hero pushing away the woman he loves. One of the cool things about this story is, race is so not the issue Storm is a White guy, and Syleena is a Black woman, which we know, but that s as far as the racial issues go Instead the issue in this book is both characters fear of trusting someone enough to give their hearts to them Syleena does her best to overcome her past of having a mother who was a heartless, uncaring, promiscuous sometime prostitute who treated her father like crap and goaded him into suicide She has spent years paying off her mother to leave her alone, and her mother is a big secret that she tries to keep This secret blows up in her face, when Storm realizes that she lied about both parents being dead The diatribe against women echoes in his head, and conquers his determination to give his heart to Syleena. The way that he gets back at her is a scene that will linger in the reader s mind I found it exceptionally well written, and I must say that it is one of the cruellest things a hero has ever done to a heroine Nothing physical but very emotionally wounding So why did I keep reading the book I wanted to find out how this couple could find happiness together And Rochelle doesn t cheat the reader, as is done way too often Storm has to work very hard to win back Syleena s love thankfully And Syleena ends up in a very bad place that really shows you how desolated and heartbroken she is by Storm s betrayal Thankfully Storm is there to act as her self appointed knight in shining armor, even though Syleena is far from ready to forgive and forget. There are some editing errors and a few areas where the writing was awkward, but they don t detract from this story All you can do is keep reading to find out how things turn out I probably would have finished this book sooner, but I am pretty lazy about reading ebooks Had this been in paperback, I am sure I wouldn t have been able to put this book down until it is done.I definitely recommend this to the interracial reader who is tired of the race issue being the prominent conflict in the interracial romance they are reading It s so not the case with this one Also it s a breath of fresh air from the often oversexed interracial ebooks that an avid IR fan cannot help but come across Yes there is sensuality and lovemaking scenes, but they are not overused, but definitely add to the romantic story unfolding. You should check this one out for a back to basics love story This book was such a disappointment on every level If you re a hard core fan of this author, and want to read some early work, best of luck in reading this book If not, I would suggest you start with some of her later works Hopefully, they are much better The first level of disappoinmtent was the book cover My reading partner thought it had at least four differnt photos cut and pasted The barn pictured does not look like it would belong on the ranch From the descriptions in the text, ever This book was such a disappointment on every level If you re a hard core fan of this author, and want to read some early work, best of luck in reading this book If not, I would suggest you start with some of her later works Hopefully, they are much better The first level of disappoinmtent was the book cover My reading partner thought it had at least four differnt photos cut and pasted The barn pictured does not look like it would belong on the ranch From the descriptions in the text, everything is up repaired There would not be any broken down structures The male pictured looks like a really hot ranch hand, not an executive of a powerful bank in Texas, as Storm Hyde is The female is not very attractive and I don t see her as Syleen Webster Her hair isn t even combed The only thing the cover got correct was that there was a water source on the ranch This cover would ve been better with just the words of the title The second level of disappointment was the editing or lack there of This was worse than reading a first draft paper from a college freshman There are typos There are missing words There are conjuctions used that don t link other words or sentences My reading partner was so upset by all the errors she went online and attempted to contact the editor about the grammatical mistakes She was upset that she could not leave a written message at the publisher s web site I ve talked with a friend who has published a book She explained that once the author turns the book over, it s in the hands of the publisher Many times the author has no say in what the cover looks like even So, I guess with that information, it s the fault of the publisher for all the errors The first sex scene was borning and oh so vanilla It would have been better placed in a Harleqiun Romance as opposed to a book published as exceptional eroitc fiction There was no erotic There was no oral sex involved The only other sex scene was a littleon the hotness scale, but only because of the location work place So, if the typos are placed on the shoulders of the publisher, the content issues are the domain of the author First of all, there is enough story line for 3 books It seems as if the author did not think she would ever be able to publish another book, so this was her romantic tome I looked up the author, and found out that 2009,the year of this book, was a very prolific year So, not really sure why there is much going on in this book The storyline was sloppy at best I hadquestions after finishing the book For example, did Syleena complete college After she leaves Storm, why does she start stripping Why does she move in with her mother, and not with her aunt Why does she not think her mother can figure out the general area Syleena is in from postal stamp And the questions go on and on Due to writing, I really could not accept or like either of the lead characters I finished this book, just to see how it would end and if the author could tie up all the loose ends The author did tie up the ends, but not well I could use every single character left in this review to discuss plot, but why It will not change anything In closing, I would say that this one of the worse books I ve read to date I m going to give the author another chance though I think withbooks published, the writing will improve Well, that s my hope I loved it she is so awesome I am in a interracial marriage
